Anneleen Van Nylen, who has been mc’ing Gooikoorts since the start, is no stranger to the folk music world. She is a regular visitor to the Gooik summer workshops and is also an active member of Folkcorner Den Appel and the folk café ’t Smiske in Asse. Anneleen got her first music lessons at the Jeugdmuziekatelier Cantecleer in Mortsel, where she became interested in song, music, dance and declamation. In 1995 she graduated from the Lemmensinstituut of Leuven, section Drama, option Declamation. She gives diction and recitation lessons at the academies of Buggenhout and Geraardsbergen, she provides comments to films and slides series, performs in poetry programmes and is regularly asked to mc various events. She was the mc when Walter Evenepoel and Wilfrid Moonen presented their cd ‘Sporen’ and she introduced the concerts during Folky Day in Bornem and Kerstfolk in Ternat. Anneleen still follows singing and hurdy-gurdy courses and as a folk mc she is the right person to ensure smooth proceedings at the Gooikoorts festival.
